· CHOICE OF ARROWS FOR SHOOTING ON DIFFERENT DISTANCES
A reason of tearing down of an arrow in windy weather depends on its sailing (lateral area) and from the total time of its being in the air. There is direct dependence, i.e. the bigger the sailing of an arrow and the less its speed, the larger the possibility of its tearing down in windy weather. The increase of speed of flight of arrows by the increase of force of the used bows is limited by force of an archer. That is why archers’ desire to use thinner arrows at shooting in the windy weather is natural, sailing of an arrow is smaller, and so probability of tearing down under the influence of wind is also smaller. Carbon Fiber arrows that have appeared during the last years help to solve this tactical task very well. As it was already mentioned above, the higher above the level of the ground, the bigger the speed of the wind. A height of trajectory of flight of arrows increases with the increase of distance and naturally that the influence of wind on the long distances affects more, than on short ones. At the same time at shooting on the short distances: 18 and 25 meters in the closed premises where there is no influence of wind, the use of thin arrows not quite is justified. At shooting on the short distances the insignificant advantage is got by archers, who use thicker arrows from the alloys of aluminum, as long as at the equal deleting of center of arrows from the center of the target, thick arrows have more chances to touch the center of the target and to «give more points». It is also considered, that arrows made of the aluminum alloys are added better to the optimum adjustment. At the same time we should take into account that change and subsequent adjustment and getting used to new arrows is difficult enough and requires the much time and not all archers go through it without negative consequences. For this reason not in all cases it is possible to recommend change for the aluminum arrows at shooting on the short distances. This question must be considered individually taking into account all «pros and cons». Probably, for this reason many sportsmen, even those famous ones, at shooting on the short distances continue to use Carbon Fiber arrows and try not to change them for aluminum arrows, or even ignore participation in competitions on the short distances in view of tactics.

· CHOICE AND METHODS OF GLUING ON OF VANES OF ARROWS DEPENDING ON DIRECTION OF WIND AND DISTANCE OF SHOOTING

The vanes on arrows are chosen and glued on depending on direction and speed of wind. As an example it is possible to offer pieces of advice from instruction on the methods of gluing on vanes of the «Spin-Wing» type (Fig.¹.8). It is possible to notice that similar pieces of advice can work with all other vanes as well. But in order to take advantage of such pieces of advice in practice, an archer must have at hand at least three complete sets of arrows for all possible cases of directions and strength of wind, which cannot always be realized. Therefore most archers have one complete set of arrows at competitions; they usually use comparatively not large corner of gluing on arrows taking into account weather, which is usual for the time of competitions - side wind of middle force.

· ORDER OF SHOOTING OF TEAM ROUND BY PARTICIPANTS OF A TEAM AND DEVELOPMENT OF TACTICS OF SHOOTING DEPENDING ON QUALITY OF THEIR PREPARATION

The introduction to the program of competitions on archery of the team rounds adorned this kind of sports and extended a range of tactical principles used in it considerably. One of tactical tasks, which are to be solved by coaches and captains arranging team rounds, is how to place the members of the team in order of shooting and recommended quantity of arrows to each participant of the team. A quantity of possible variants is extraordinarily large. Therefore it is possible to make attempt to name and ground only some of them. For simplicity of explanation we will name the participants of the team with letters A, B and C. As it is known, each of three members of the team has a right to make three shots in any sequence not exceeding three minute limit of time for the whole team. At the choice of order of shooting one should take into account some necessary information. To this information the following can belong: experience of engaged in archery participants of the team, individual character of shooting of every member of the team, level of individual psychical stability, degree of the special physical and technical readiness at the moment, weather conditions, description of competitors’ team, etc. As an example of the logical reasoning of the variants of placing of order of shooting of participants of the team, we can look at a few typical cases. We will assume that of the three members of the team: archers A, B and C, archer B is the weakest and not experienced. In that case it is possible to recommend the coach or captain of the teams to entrust the beginning of the shooting to the skilled archer, for example, to the archer C, whose task will be to set a general rhythm and quality of shooting. The weaker archer is suggested to shoot the second at rate of comfortable conditions and long enough period of time for shooting. And, finally, the most experienced and psychologically steady archer that is able to execute high-quality shots in the limited time intervals, should finish the shooting. Other variants are also possible. As the experience shows, almost all the archers of any level of readiness without exceptions are ready to make at least two shots at a good rate without any special problems. On this basis, it is possible to offer the participants of team to make shooting in such sequence: archer C makes 2 shot, archer B makes 2 shot, archer A makes 2 shot, later archers C, B and A finish shooting, consistently making one shot each. As a next variant we can name shooting (merry-go-round type) which can be used with the successive team shooting when each archer shoots one arrow (archer C 1 arrow, archer B 1 arrow, archer A 1 arrow and so on to the ending of series). It also make sense to train the coming onto the line of shooting and going away from it of participants of a team, at shooting of the team sparring, so that all possible variants and chances were worked out.

· INFLUENCE ON QUALITY OF SHOOTING OF COMPETITORS, BY METHOD OF CHANGE OF ONE’S OWN RHYTHM OF SHOOTING, AT SHOOTING IN PAIRS IN THE FINAL PART OF COMPETITIONS.

At shooting in the final part of competitions archers execute one shot consistently. Usually this shooting passes comparatively rhythmically (on the average on 20-25 seconds on shot out of settled 40 seconds). Accordingly archers have on 20-25 seconds on the average to rest between shots. As a variant of tactical influence, one of the sportsmen, having good special physical preparation, can purposefully change the rhythm of shooting if he shoot practically at once after realization of shots by his/her competitor. Thus, he/she brings in mismatch into the competitor’s plans, artificially leaving to him/her less time for rest between shots. Personally I witnessed how this unexpected move was of the use for those who used it.

· AT SHOOTING IN COLD WEATHER ABILITY TO SAVE HAND DRY AND WARM (THE USE OF CATALYZING DEVICE FOR HEATING IN FUR MITTEN WHICH IS SUSPENDED ON THE BELT OR IN THE QUIVER).

In cold weather archers should pay special attention to the ability to save the pulling hand warm and dry. On this occasion the principle used by many archers deserves attention. They suspend large fur mittens on belt and during the breaks between the shots hold a hand in them. Sometimes archers, in addition to this inlay petrol catalyzing device for heating in the similar mittens, which allow to increase temperature artificially and warm a hand additionally.

· ABILITY TO MAKE USE OF BINOCULARS AND SPYGLASSES TACTICALLY CORRECTLY.

Errors in the use by binoculars and spyglasses frequently consist either in the almost complete ignoring of them, or large fascination by them, which is expressed in not always justified frequent use of them. In the cases when shooting of an archer is commented by his/her colleague or coach, for pointing of place of location of hits of arrows it is possible to use the well tested principle when the target is divided into 12 areas, the way face of a clock is divided (Fig.9).

Fig. 9

For example, position of the arrow on Fig.9 is commented, as «eight past four».
The desire of archers to give the bright, individual coloring to their arrows should be greeted (as a rule this is achieved due to the proper selection of colors of vanes and nocks). In future this will help to simplify the search for places of hit of arrows of an archer by scopes.

· KNOWING THE PECULIARITIES OF CHANGE OF THE MIDDLE POINT OF AIMING DEPENDING ON CHANGE OF QUALITY OF LIGHT

At the sharp change of light the displacement MPH is possible. Every archer must independently find out for himself/herself the features of these deflections from the individual features of planning of string in relation to pin. With this aim we can recommend the archers, to pay more attention to the methods of designing of the string, and also to the color of the string, that is used, to the choice of symmetric forms of pins in ring sights. (More detailed information on this subject you can read in the article of the author of these lines in the magazine «The Glade» ¹ 67, spring 1995, p. 4 - 10.)
